Primary therapy

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)

The core therapy: physician-prescribed testosterone for confirmed deficiency, with the dose set by the physician within the reference range and scheduled monitoring.

Adjunct therapies

Offered where clinically indicated, prescribed and monitored by licensed EU physicians.

HCG / gonadotropin support

Maintains testicular function and fertility for men who want to preserve endogenous signalling while on therapy.

Metabolic therapy (GLP-1, insulin sensitisers)

Where visceral fat and insulin resistance dominate the picture, metabolic agents accelerate the same loop testosterone breaks.

Sexual health therapeutics

PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave (Li-ESWT) therapy for erectile function where hormonal correction alone is not sufficient.

Start with the free symptom test — or go straight to labs.

No referral. Work-up first. Treatment only when the physician has grounds.

Public or private route

How long does a testosterone work-up take in a public system?

In most European public systems a work-up for low testosterone starts with your GP. The GP assesses symptoms, usually orders a blood test and refers you to endocrinology if there is reason to. Only there does a specialist decide whether you have testosterone deficiency and whether treatment is relevant.

With NordicTRT you can start without a referral. You take the symptom test, order the blood test yourself and have the results reviewed by a physician online. The course only ends in a prescription if the physician finds a medical reason. You can always use the public route instead, or alongside.

Public-system limits in a few countries

  1. 1

    Denmark

Right to a full hospital work-up within 30 days of the hospital receiving the referral, where clinically possible.

  2. 2

    Sweden

Care guarantee 0-3-90-90: specialist visit within 90 days of the referral, treatment within 90 days of the decision.

  3. 3

    Finland

Specialist care: the assessment must be done within three months of the referral arriving; treatment within six months.

  4. 4

    Germany

Appointment service 116117 arranges a specialist appointment within four weeks, but only with a referral carrying an urgency code.

The private route with NordicTRT

  1. 1

    Three-minute symptom test

The AMS questionnaire gives you a first picture of your symptoms before you order anything.

  2. 2

    Blood test without referral

Choose the package yourself: home kit or venous draw. Total testosterone, SHBG and free testosterone are the base panel.

  3. 3

    Direct physician consultation

A physician reviews results, symptoms and history with you online and assesses whether there is a deficiency.

  4. 4

    Plan and follow-up

If treatment is indicated, a plan with control blood tests is set. If not, you get an explanation and suggested next steps.

These limits are the legal maximums, and they start when the referral is received. The GP visit, blood tests and repeat measurements come before that. The private route skips the wait for a referral, not the physician's assessment.

When does which route make sense?

  • The public route is right if you have acute symptoms, several conditions that need to be seen together, or want reimbursed treatment.
  • The private route suits you if you want your numbers measured quickly, explained by a physician, at a pace you set.
  • Many men do both: they measure privately and take the results to their own GP.

Questions about TRT without referral

Is it legal to get TRT without a referral?

Yes. A referral is the public system's entry route to a hospital department. A private physician can assess you directly. A prescription is only written by a physician and only when medically indicated.

Do I still need a physician's assessment?

Yes, always. A blood test alone does not make the diagnosis. A physician reads the numbers together with your symptoms and history before treatment is considered.

What if my testosterone is normal?

The physician explains what the number means, whether free testosterone and SHBG change the picture, and which other causes of your symptoms should be checked.

Can I take the results to my own GP?

Yes. You receive your results and can share them with your GP if you want to continue or add to care in the public system.

How quickly can I start?

The symptom test takes three minutes and the blood test can be ordered the same day. The consultation is booked when the results are ready.
